Living up the Last 9 Weeks

As the arrival of Mr. Mullet approaches, I have this sudden desire to get out and do things that will be much harder given his presence. But there are two problems: first, C and I don't usually get out do much (other than taking Bruno to pug group) and second, we're not exactly sure what things will be harder when he comes. So, dear readers, in the nine Saturdays we have until we're finally able to meet this three-pound butternut squash who currently resides in my belly, what should we do?

I think babies are pretty easy for the first half of their first year to take places. They love getting out, so you don't need to worry too much about that. In my opinion, babies join our lives, we don't change our lives for our babies (perhaps some may disagree). Of course schedules change, but overall, they can go about anywhere we can. But, if you like seeing movies at the theatre, go to a movie or two. Otherwise my advice is to really enjoy your night time sleep. Appreciate every minute of it!

um . . . I think pretty much everything is much easier without kids! I definitely agree with Linda about movies. If there is something you are dying to see in the theatre, see it now. Movie theatres are so loud!

I couldn't enjoy my night time sleep by that point anyway, but if you can - then definitely soak it up.

If there are any weekend trips you guys have been wanting to take that would be hindered by schlepping around a big car seat and stopping every 5 minutes to feed a baby...I would do it now.

My advice is to just enjoy the peace, quiet, and alone time you have for these last weeks!

SLEEP!!!! Movies in a theatre is a good one, weekend getaways, skiing, anything requiring an absence of more than about THREE hours......ENJOY it, but really the BEST is yet to come!!! Exhaustion is really well worth it! :)

Any kind of Dating activity. Get as much of it in as possible. Movies, Dinners out, anything that could happen out of the house after a ~7pm bed time. I miss going to the movies the most, but it's still a well worth it trade.

going out to dinner, the movies, even grocery shopping! Stock-up!

Enjoy the quiet (no screaming or crying - except Chuck!), enjoy your house not smelling like poop, enjoy your alone time with Chuck, and most definitely enjoy sleeping more than 2-3 hours at a time. Also prepare yourself to love a new little person more than you ever realized possible!!

I'd hit any and all of the indoor art (or other) museums that you want to spend some quality time in. strollers are difficult to maneuver in those tight spaces and some of them even ban baby carriers and back packs. very exhausting for you though baby may sleep through it all.

uninterrupted dinner out at a nice restaurant where you can stay for as long as you want is another one.

I'd avoid shopping malls because you'll be spending plenty o' time there post-partum. they're super new-mom friendly as a way of getting out of the house while walking around and easily finding benches when baby needs to eat.

something to set-up for the future: babysitting swaps with another family. one couple goes out, one of you stays with your kid(s), the other watches the other family's kid(s). switch and repeat every other week. no teenagers to stress about. no hourly payment to shell out. result: couple sanity time.

I would have to say enjoy your uninterupted talking time with C. You will never get it again. Even when they start sleeping through the night you are too tired to talk by then.
Oh, and holding hands. Once the little one comes along, the hands are full of too many other things to be full of each other.

You've definitely been given a lot of advice, so I don't think I have much more to add! I totally agree with the others. Movies, plays, going to dinner, whatever. Enjoy the freedom of being able to be spontaneous!!
